The SNS annual Student Leadership Programme gives you the chance to meet new people, challenge your own views and those of others, and learn about a conflict that has shaped the lives of millions of people for over a century. Not only is it an amazing opportunity to engage with Israeli and Palestinian peace activists directly involved with finding solutions to the conflict, it provides you with all the resources, encouragement, and enthusiasm to approach it from just about every perspective, without telling you what solution you should support or what opinions you should hold.
You will receive training in public speaking, negotiating, and conflict resolution, and are given the opportunity to explore and develop these skills throughout the week. You will hear from religious, political, and community leaders, and learn how to critically engage with the narratives various stakeholders bring to the table. As a non-partisan educational organisation we do not promote any particular solution but rather encourage debate and discussion on all perspectives and possible solutions. It is up to you, as a participant, to come up with our own opinions on the situation.
Last and not least, the you will learn about the context of the conflict within British society and the world, exploring how UN negotiations work in an MUN simulation and speaking to student leaders about its impact on campuses. You will leave the programme ready to be a student leader and able to be an educator and a change maker. You can read a bit about what how previous participants found the programme & what they thought below.
